How to Draw Birds: by Max Nootbaar
For this presentation we will learn the basics of drawing several different birds including a duck on the water, a hawk in flight, a thrush, and a warbler using prints of each species as reference. This will help prepare for sketching in the field. We will work step by step starting with the basic shapes of the bird, then divide the bird into different parts (i.e. primaries, secondaries, tail coverts, breast, mantle, etc.), and finally draw the basic plumage and features. Each step of the drawings will be on the projector for reference.
