Sylvia and Gabriel monitored the trail this weekend and reported a lot of activity. Boxes #1 & 8 had empty nests, and the old nests were removed and the box cleaned out. Box 2 & 4 remained closed as chicks were near fledging. It was interesting to see that box #6 had it's previous chicks fledged, and new eggs were laid in the old nest. We will need to watch this box to make sure there are no problems associated with the box being reused.
Unfortunately, the trail was not monitored this week. This is a reminder to all monitors that if you are unable to monitor the week that you are scheduled, it is important to let trail coordinator, Max Nootbaar know so that he can arrange for another monitor to cover the trail.

Today I monitored the trail and saw chicks at boxes one, four, six and eight. I peeked into box six quickly to find four fledglings. Boxes one, two, eight and nine had eggs. I also have a picture of some of the hatchlings and eggs at box eight.
